at De Bellis Vasingtonium 2005
WADBAG's David Schlanger and David Kuijt ran the
Chalons Giant Battle event in conjunction with the De Bellis Vasingtonium DBA
Open Tourney at NOVAG's Fall GameDay (Sept. 24, 2004).
Attila (John Stafford with sandwich) and his allies
contemplate the task at hand. The Hunnic Host (L-R): King Ardaric
the Gepid (Mark Rodriguez), Octar the Hun (David McDonald), Attila, and Valamir
the Ostrogoth (Tim Tilson).
Aetius (Bryan McEachern in grey) with allies plot
strategy (or is that praying?). The Roman host (L-R):
Theodoric the Visigoth (Roxanne), Sangipan the Alan (George Calliman?), Aetius,
and Grimald the Frank (Raul Rodriguez).
The Maneuvers Begin
Early action focuses on the Roman right wing, where the
Huns and Ostrogoths threaten the Alans and Visigoths.
As the Roman right disintegrates, gamemaster David
Schlanger points out that the Roman left must save the day. Unfortunately
for Western Civilization, the Franks eventually gave way, leaving Aetius with
his Romans encircled and alone on the high ground.
