Default 1067 Campaign Game at Recon 2011 ADVANCED SIGN-UPS

Several people have commented that the campaign game format has been their favorite way of playing DBA. I happen to agree.

As discussed at Hurricon 2010, I will be running a campaign based on the time of the Norman Conquest in the same vein as the "Scourge of Rome" one that we did at Avon Park in July - using a "Two-Davids" model.

1067 - Wot now?
DBA Grand Campaign Game at Recon 2011 - Cocoa Beach, FL

Will the conquest of England, Apulia and Sicily be enough for the Normans, or are there greater feats yet to come?

Sign-ups will be in advance of RECON 2011 and can be done directly on this forum.
If you already have one of these armies painted, or you are planning on painting one, you will have priority over someone who walks up. Not all slots need to be filled in order to be able to play, but we do need an EVEN number of players. There will be some slots available at the start of the tourney.

Normans (III/51) - William the Conqueror - [Gray Strickland]
Normans (III/51) - Robert "Guiscard" de Hauteville [Nick Zizo]
Wales (III/19a)
Scotland (III/45b) Malcolm III - [Will Michael]
Ireland (III/46)
Bretons (III/18)
France (III/51) Phillip I the Amorous [David Shepps]
Holy Roman Empire (III/52) Heinrich IV - [Dave Blackmon]
Lombardy (III/21b)
Papal Italian (III/76)
Poland (III/62a) Boleslaw II the Bold - [Mitch Harbach]
Serbia (III/26a)
Croatia (III/26b)
Kiev (III/78)
Volga Bulgars (III/32)
Cumans (III/79)
Hungary (III/67a)
Pechenegs (III/47)
Konstantinian Byzantine (III/75) Constantine X - [Marty Schmidt]
Seljuk Turks (III/73)
Georgia (III/70a)
Fatimids (III/65) Caliph Al-Mustansir Biallah - [Jim Riley]
Zirids of Tunisia (III/33)
Hammadids of Algeria (III/33)
Almoravids (III/74)
Leon-Castilla (III/35b)
Denmark (III/40c)
Norway (III/40c)
Sweden (III/40c)
Cordoba (III/34b)

Thanks Tony. I am planning to attend. Please sign me up for Norway in the campaign. I have a few questions, mainly to determine how many figures I have to transport:

Session 1: I assume that this will be a single, big game as opposed to a tournament. Will figures be supplied or, if not, what armies are to be used?

Session 3: Are you going to designate some of the countries (like Wales) as upland or rough as the Davids have done in past campaigns to give them a small advantage in terrain selection?

Session 4 & 7: "GM's Choice" is difficult to plan for, Can these be firmed up?

I assume that all games are 15mm.

EDIT: I looked up David's Wild Region rule from the Gallic Campaign from Fall In:
Native defenders are more likely to be able to defend (and thus get terrain of their liking, and to the extent that is possible, terrain that is not to the liking of the attacker).

The basic rule on aggression for these campaigns is this:

Defending (didn't move): Aggression 0

Invading: Aggression equals 1+distance moved in zones

Invading a "Wild" region: Aggression equals 2+ distance moved in zones

You cannot attack an opponent at more than distance 4 until all possible opponents at distance 4 and less are busy (and thus can't be attacked this turn). Maximum aggression is 4 (there is always a chance that the attacker will get terrain).

It is always nice to have visitors from HMGS East. All the DBA events are 15mm. If you don't have a suitable army for anything let me know and I will bring you a loaner.

Yes, a single BBDBA game and Jim will provide all of the troops. He has done two in the past: The Enterprise of Paris in 1544 (what if) and Pavia. He hasn't decided yet which he is planning on doing yet.

More than likely, yes. We are having a test run of it in a few weeks. There might be a few special rules, but nothing major. It will probably be on 30" boards too.

We might know within a month, but we are still a ways off and I don't like to be too pushy with people who volunteer. Session 4 will be BBDBA with all troops provided by Don Harting so you wouldn't have to bring any armies for it. My main goal is listing/coordinating thing this far out is to let our DBAers know that they can plan on playing DBA from Dawn to Dusk.

You are quite correct.

That's what we have used too. The main difference is that our campaign board isn't as big as the Two Davids, and I don't type up a nice Campaign Rules booklet for each campaign.

Tony,

Would you be able to provide a PDF version of the campaign map? This looks a very interesting campaign.

Cheers
