Starting a first army

I've been to those sites actually. The banners are nice, although I'm not really a fan of the swirl/marble pattern in some of the later links. I'd prefer bold, solid colors. I managed to get my hands on a book called Banderia apud Grunwald (Banners at Grunwald) which has a section in the back filled with Polish banners I could probably copy and print out.

In terms of finding opponents... Well, I go to college in central PA, not too far from Harrisburg, from which you could get to Philly. I'm from CT, though I've never met anyone who plays DBA in person. I suppose I'd have to do some looking around for events.

I think I'm going to go with Later Polish for starters. I'm not Polish myself, but I've been to Poland before and I can appreciate its history. Time to get around to buying the models.

They were downloaded from a Renaissance Polish Warfare site. I hope the link still works if I can find it. I'll post it when I do. Some flags were hand painted as were all of the shields. Thanks for the compliment!

You won't have to look far. Lancaster hosts two of the biggest east-coast gaming conventions, Cold Wars (just finished two weeks back) and Fall In (early November).

There is a group who play DBA in or near York PA, which should also be driving distance for you. Spencer Ginder (who visits this forum semi-regularly) is one of them. Tom McKinney used to be also, but I haven't heard from him in a year or two now.

I think Later Polish is a good choice. Its a fun army that has lots of interesting enemies (Mongols, Teutons, Lithuanians).

I had Banderia apud Grunwald as well, but its gone missing. Excellent resource.

There is a solid group of DBA gamers from throughout CT and some of us from MA and NY who convene to play DBA on a monthly basis. You can check out the schedule and get in touch with the club when you're home.
