I have recently downloaded DBAOL, now having a fast enough internet connection for the download.

I have played lots of games against myself and think I know how to use it now.

The four games I was offered when I downloaded - 2 against game master and 2 against mentors haven't been such a success.

I made my initial moves.

One mentor has deleted the game.

The other mentor and the two game masters have not made a new bound for about three weeks.

I am keen to play other people more so I can consider whether or not to subscribe and take part in tourneys.

What is a typical time to wait for your opponent's next bound?

It is a function of what time of day you are playing and who you are playing. Generally you can anticipate at least a bound or two a day per person you are playing. If you play at around noon time US east coast time, then you may be able to get multiple bounds in per player. Generally speaking, I like to have multiple games going against multiple players. That way I generally have a number of bounds to play when I check my battle box.

Feel free to challenge me for a game. I check my bounds every day, and I'm a bit of beginner myself. What's your login name?

I usually have about 40 games going at once, which means there are almost always bounds to make. With a bit of Chat you'll soon find who is in your time zone and then you can play a game to completion in one sitting, which is the best way imo.

By the way, as you've found, the official support is really not very good these days, but there are plenty of players who play regularly, and once you're feeling familiar with the game, you can join in tournaments and campaigns, which are strated and maintained on this site.

Tamerlane

Speaking of Campaigns, we have an opening to play the Saxons in Fall of the West, if you're interested.

Don't worry about your newness, by the way. The campaign proceeds at a leasurely pace with plenty of time to learn.

Thanks for the challenges.

I am not the same Tamerlane who plays mediaeval diplomacy.

I am the same one who builds mountains of skulls all over central asia.

I have quite a few games going now - thanks for all the challenges - it is great - very disruptive to my professional day waiting for the next bound.

What are the limits on trial players - I am having some sort of three kills limit applied.

I am in the process of applying to join DBAOL but in the interim I would like to know where the trial player limits are - are they in writing in any one place?
