Should Heavy Cavalry (HC) equipped with a Cuirass have an extra advantage in DBN ? if so how could it be added to the rules ?

It already does as only the true battle cavalry and cuirassier are rated as "heavy". All other cavalry is "light". The real question is should there be a "medium" cavalry class and how would DBN work with it. Just my 2 cents.

Alex,
You might have a look at some of the previous threads on DBN cavalry for more discussion on this. Try this one for starters. http://www.fanaticus.org/discussion/...ragoons&page=1

A good '2 cents' Kontos. If I consider a unit of LC to be good enouth I class them as 'Superior'LC that well represent 'medium' cavalry for me.

I would leave it alone.
The ethos of DBA et al, is to focus on what troops did rather than the minutiae of how they were armed and protected. During the Napoleonic wars, there were Cuirassiers, with no curiass, with a front one and the classic back and front. There were other unarmoured heavy cavalry, such as British Life guards and dragons who were able to take them on with no clear disadvantage. Arguably, the quality of the horse was as much a factor. So its not a clear cut position re the advantage they may or may not have given. They do look good and scary though!! cheers |
