May 8 Midnight march to Spotsylvania Court House, arriving at daybreak. Brigade placed in reserve behind salient at Spotsylvania Court House and employed in construction of the field works. Brig. Gen. J. B. Gordon placed in command of Early's Division (Col. C. A. Evans takes command of Gordon's Brigade).
May 9-18 Battles at Spotsylvania Court House
May 19-20 Battle of Harris Farm (Col. C. A. Evans commissioned Brigadier-General on May 20 -- rank effective May 19-- commanding the Georgia Brigade)
May 21-25 Movement to/skirmishing at North Anna
May 26-28 Movement to/battle at Cold Harbor
June 13-17 March (85 miles) to Charlottesville, Va.
June 18 Transported by rail from Everett's Crossing (near Charlottesville) to Lynchburg, and deployed on Salem Turnpike
July 1 March (21 miles) to Strasbourg, Va.
July 2 March (18 miles) through Middleton to Kerntown, Va.
July 3-4 March (24 miles) through Winchester to Martinsburg, W. Va. Occupation of Martinsburg. On afternoon of July 4, march (11) miles along Shepherdstwon pike to Duffield Station.
July 5 March to Shepherdstown, ford Potomac, encamp near iron works six miles from Harpers Ferry.
July 6-7 Skirmish at Maryland Heights (Harper's Ferry)
July 8 March to Frederick, Md.
July 9 Battle of Monocacy
July 10 March on Washington
July 11 Skirmish at Fort Stevens and withdrawal
