Reviews of Bloodaxe Miniatures

BloodAxe figures are carved by Lance Runolfsson and are unavailable under license in Europe from East Ridding Miniatures and in the U.S. from Historifigs. 15mm ranges include Early Hoplite Greeks, Camp Followers and Slaves, and Hawaiians. 25mm ranges include Hawaiians.

Paul Hannah on 15mm Hawaiians

My order of the re-released, 15mm Blood Axe Hawaiians arrived the other day. I like 'em! They may not be everybody's cup of tea, however. (Remember, I also like Mikes Models figures.) They stand about 16mm high, and, in style, they seem comparable to Peter Pig figures. Most of the packs offer 2-3 different poses. The several command figures are especially impressive and they could be interspersed thru the elements to create even more figure-variety. The outrigger canoes, with crew, will make for some fun eye-candy pieces.

Mike Taber on 15mm Hawaiians

True 15mm (so a little shorter than the average 15mm figure), but on thicker bases (I think this was done to make the figures stand taller). Chunky is not quite the right word; but these are not skinny figures, they have some heft and really are not too far out of proportion - they don't look like they are on steroids. Weapons may be a little out of scale (but they would need to be, or they wouldn't cast for beans - nor would they look very good) but not too much so. They paint up nicely (and I can't paint) - I've not seen them with a wash, but there is plenty of detail - so a good wash would make the finished figure look great (if I get caught up in a day or two I'll get wash applied to mine then I'll know for sure).
