Wagon Camps

Chris Brantley:  Perhaps the simplest and most versatile type of camp you can create is a wagon camp. All you need is a baggage wagon or cart, some horses, oxen or cattle to draw it, and a drover, guard or campfollower to keep it company. Wagons and typical drovers are generic enough to be used with various armies and periods. Here are two examples.

Pre-Feudal Scots Cart Camp

The first is an ox cart camp created for my Pre-Feudal Scots army.  The cart and figures are Essex. The small pink thing is a pig from Irregular. I am particularly pleased with the balding grey-haired figure; too old to stand in the line of battle, he was left behind to guard the camp.

Early Burgundian Wagon Camp

The second camp is an empty wagon, again Essex, with two foppish looking characters as camp followers left behind to defend it and looking as if they are about to tangle with some threat. Created for use with my Early Burgundians.
