Traction Trebuchet

By Alan Ferrency.
I scratch-built a traction trebuchet to round out my Mongol
Conquest army. The figures are Museum Miniatures. This stone thrower is
based on images of Mongol/Sung traction trebuchets I found on the web and in
Osprey books. I went for a stone thrower instead of rockets because they're
intended for use on the Western front (Europe). The trebuchet is balsa. I
used brass rod for the pivot and thread where it looks like rope holding pieces
together. The throwing stones are round pin heads. They're rounder than I'd
prefer, but just about the same as the one molded onto the figure. For the
sling holding the stone to be fired, I wrapped some green stuff around one of
the pin heads. The long pulling ropes were molded onto the figures and cut to
length.
