Board Games

Popular military/strategy board games can be used to provide a campaign setting, in which miniatures and the DBA rules can be used to fight out the battles between contending forces. The following games have been recommended by Fanatici for use with DBA.

Circus Maximus: A Game of High Adventure by Avalon Hill (chariot races in the Roman colliseum. Not quite DBA, but something else you can do with your chariot miniatures.

Diplomacy by Avalon Hill (statecraft in pre-World War I Europe, the core rules have been widely adapted to various periods.).

Kingmaker: A Game of High Adventure by Avalon Hill (simulating the War of the Roses in England, 1440-1485 AD)

Samurai Swords by Avalon Hill (simulating 16th Century Japan)

Settlers of Cattan by Mayfair Games (game of exploration, settlement and conflict on an unexplored fictional island). Also see Seafarers of Cattan extension.
