Steve Kincaid's

Early Hoplite Greek (I/52)

> Armies of the Fanatici > DBA Resources > Fanaticus

Here are photos of an Early Greek Hoplite army I have recently painted. Figures are by Tin Soldiers and I have painted enough variations for a number of army options.  They are painted with acrylics - mostly Citadel - and based on plasticard bases. The based are coated with a layer of brown Basetex which has then been drybrushed with a light sand coloured acrylic. Once that is all dry, patches of static grass have been glued on using diluted PVA adhesive.

Tin Soldier figures are an acquired taste - the proportions are more caricature than anatomical. They work well together, but are not likely to fit with many other manufacturer's ranges.

Citizen Hoplites (4Sp)

VVV shield transfers have been used, which have then been varnished
over with a satin acrylic varnish.

Citizen Cavalry (3Cv and 2Lh)

Thracian Peltasts (4Ax)

Some shields were missing, so replacements were made from plasticard.

Skirmishers (2Ps)
