The Norman Host Arrayed

I made this army using 15mm Gladiator miniatures, however, I have since added an element of Essex knights after a friend wanted to field the all Knight option in the first game I played with them - typical! I removed all lances and spears, drilled out the hands, and replaced them with wire for greater durability. All the figures were "dipped" using a mahogany-coloured stain that I think looks particularly good on the leather quilted armour of the mounted sergeants.

The General's standard is meant to represent the Sacred Banner granted to William the Conqueror by the Pope prior to his invasion of Britain. It is based on the drawing and description in Ian Heath's Armies of the Dark Ages 600-1066 and was created using MS PowerPoint and printed on paper.
