Alexei Gartinski's Early Achaemenid Persians DBA I/60b
Here are my Early Achaemenid Persians I/60b. I chose the (b) option simply because it includes all the otherwise ³unusual² elements (8Bw, SCh, WWg, 3Cm). All figures are Essex. Despite their seriously war-like appearance, I still have to master playing them. So far all of my Persians were badly beaten by (my) Greek hoplite armies. It seems that the more Sp elements the Greeks have, the easier they beat the Persians. There¹s a threat of being outflanked, of course, but one or two Ps, LH or Cv elements is usually sufficient to keep the Persians at a distance for a while. And in the meantime the Greek Sp just advance in contact and easily massacre the bulk of their forces. Well, very historical, I guess.

Cyrus and his Guardsmen (3Cv/Gen)

Persian and Median Nobles (3Cv)

The Immortals (8Bw)

Camelry (3Cm)

Subject Foot (3Ax & 2Ps)

Scythed Chariot (SCh)

Mobile Tower (WWg)
